    FAQ

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Compression runs in your browser, on your own device. Your PDF is never sent to our server or to anyone else.

How much smaller will my PDF get?

It depends on what's inside. Scans and photos usually shrink a lot, because images make up most of their size. A PDF that's mostly text has little to compress — in that case, we tell you instead of giving you a file that isn't any smaller.

Will the text still be selectable?

At the “Recommended” and “Smaller” compression levels, yes. Only the images are recompressed; text and links stay as they are. At the “Smallest” level, every page is turned into an image, so text can no longer be selected or searched.

Is there a file size limit?

No fixed limit and no daily limit. Very large files are limited only by your device's memory.

    Can I compress a password-protected PDF?

Not yet. Remove the password first, then try again. PDFs that open without a password but block editing can still be compressed with the “Smallest” level.

    Is it free?

    Yes. No sign-up, no watermark.
