How to copy both sides of an ID card onto one page

  1. Take a photo of the front of your card, or choose one you already have. Lay the card on a dark surface and avoid glare.
  2. Drag the four corners onto the corners of the card. The preview shows the straightened card; tap “Rotate” if it is upside down.
  3. Do the same for the back. Draw on the preview to black out anything the recipient doesn't need, and keep “Mark as copy” on.
  4. Choose a format and tap “Create PDF” or “Create JPG”. On a phone, the share sheet opens so you can save the file or send it; on a computer, it downloads.

FAQ

Is my ID uploaded to a server?

No. The photos are processed in your browser, on your own device. They are never sent to our server or to anyone else — which is exactly what you want for an ID.

Will the copy be the real size?

Yes. The PDF places each side at 85.6 × 54 mm, the size of an ID card, driver's license, or bank card. Print it at 100 % (“Actual size”), not “Fit to page”.

Should I black out anything?

Black out what the recipient doesn't need — for example the card number or, on a German ID card, the six-digit access number (CAN). Some recipients, such as banks, need certain details by law, so ask them first if you're unsure. The black boxes are part of the image; nothing underneath is kept.

Why mark the copy?

A visible “COPY” mark makes it harder to pass the image off as the original. In Germany the law requires a copy of an ID card to be clearly marked as a copy.

Does it work with a passport?

It is made for card-sized documents (85.6 × 54 mm). For a passport page, use JPG to PDF.
